Welcome to Macphail Memorial elementary School

Hello Tiger Families/Bonjour les Familles de Tigres!

There is lots going on these days as we prepare for summer and next year.  Please see below for info on Remote School, Kindergarten, Summer School for grades 7/8 and designing a dress for "Mrs. Crysler's First Day of School in September" Contest!

We are asking all families to complete the following remote learning registration commitment by June 1, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. to help provide us with valuable data for planning purposes for the 2021/2022 school year. Accurate data will help us reduce the reconfiguration necessary to staff our classes in all schools and optimize the learning environments for students. An extended deadline has been provided to allow families to make a more informed decision.

Please complete this commitment if you wish to enroll your child(ren) in a remote learning program for the entire 2021/2022 school year. If you do not complete the form, your child(ren) will be enrolled for in-person learning September 2021.

Many of our new families who will have children joining us in kindergarten in September have been wondering about information about what to expect.  For those of you that this applies to, please check out the following powerpoint to give you and your child a brief overview

Many students love to design clothes.  Here's their chance to make their creations come to life.  To help celebrate the end of the school year, and give students something fun to look forward to in the fall, I would like to give students the chance to design my "First Day of School" dress.  All that the student needs to do is take the attached picture, print it, design whatever they like, take a picture of their design in a well- lit area (outside on a sunny day works best but be careful of shadows) and then email it to me, sue_crysler@bwdsb.on.ca.  Be sure to have them write their name next to Designed by______.  But, in order to have their design chosen as my "First Day of School" dress (and there will only be one design that wins the contest!), there are a few requirements:
  • Color in the entire dress.  It looks best when the whole dress is colored and there is very little white showing.  And yes!  Coloring outside of the lines is absolutely fine.  Strong colors turn out the best and sometimes outlining the picture with a black marker helps to make the picture "pop."  The picture that is on the front is the same picture that will be on the back.
  • Include some school spirit on the dress.  Think about what makes MAC unique.  It could be the tiger, the school colors, the spirit days, the location of the school, Friday Funnies....  You name it!  The design needs to be connected to MAC somehow.
  • This is also an opportunity to create something funny, sentimental, or quirky.  Be creative!
  • Remember:  This is for the first day of school.  Try to make it welcoming, friendly and fun.  Think about what would help you on your first day of school.  What would make you feel welcome and safe?  Take your time with your design.  Think and plan it out.  I'm sure it will be fantastic.
The due date for the "First Day of School Dress Design" is June 3rd.  This leaves lots of time but don't delay!  Please click on the following link for the dress template:
