Welcome to Macphail Memorial elementary School

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is the beginning of December which promises to be a busy month full of special events and opportunities to do fun things together and reflect on the year that was.  We hope to see many of you at the Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 18.  Please remember to check the lost and found while you are visiting the school.  There are many items which we would love to have returned to their owners.

A gentle reminder from the office.  In order to keep class disruptions and chaos at a minimum, we ask that you wait until the end of the day to pick up your children, rather than a few minutes early.  The time between 2:30 and 3:10 pm is extremely busy.  Thank you for your help with this.

Our Me to We group has a special plan for this season of giving.  They will be holding the 5 Days of Giving from December 16 to 20. Each day, there will be a focus on a different item.

Monday, December 16 – Canned Foods

Tuesday, December 17 – Breakfast Foods

Wednesday, December 18 – Snacks and Sweets

          Thursday, December 19 – Toiletries

Friday, December 20 – Your favourite Non-perishable Food Item

There will be a Spirit Day every Friday in the month of December.  December 6 and 13 will be Fuzzy Fridays where students can come to school in ‘cosy, comfortable clothes’ and on December 20, it will be Ugly Christmas Sweater Day.  Looking forward to seeing some of these creations!

Our Grade 7 and 8 students have been working very diligently to get their wares ready for sale on December 12 and 13.  You are all invited to the school’s Business Fair on those days.  Students will be at their tables from 10 am to 2:50 pm (except for during the recesses – 10:50 to 11:30 am and 12:50 to 1:30 pm).  Money the students raise from their wares will go towards their Grade 7/8 end of year trip to Montreal.

As 2019 draws to a close, we would like to thank you for your continued support.  A special thanks to our volunteers who help in so many ways from inside the classroom to our School Council to the Breakfast Club volunteers.  We hope that you all have the opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends this holiday season.  May we be among the first to wish you all the best for an amazing 2020!

Marga Wilson
